Whatever your circumstances, never underestimate your ability to impact others. ~Aly and Andrea

Inspired Quote of the Day

Whatever your circumstances, never underestimate your ability to impact others. ~Aly and Andrea

Aly and Andrea

Aly and Andrea

Aly and Andrea are identical twins who are the founders of Rock Star U, helping others to discover personal growth and fulfillment.

If today were my last day on Earth and I could share 500 words of brilliance with the world, here are the important things I'd want to pass along to others...

"They'll never make it through the night."

That's what the doctors proclaimed when we were born. As identical twins, born nearly three months premature and weighing just two pounds each, that seemed appropriate, right? They read our last rites and waited.

Nearly four decades later, they must still be waiting. Both of us, Aly and Andrea, weigh just slightly more than two pounds now (smirk), and we have had a lifetime to live with gratitude that we actually did "make it through the night." The road was not an easy one, though. Andrea lost most of her vision when she received too much oxygen in the incubator. She has only known a life totally blind in one eye, and severely limited in the other. Together, we faced a childhood with traumatic divorce, great rejection, poverty, and later, at age 27, Andrea faced kidney cancer. We have also had great joy as World Champion athletes, authors, speakers, international business owner, commercial actress, Olympic Torch Bearer, a...

The secret to creating a life that you love is all in your head. It's your imagination and will power. You can have anything you imagine if you also have the determination and focus to see it into reality.

My mother taught me that the world is clay and we are the sculptors that get to shape our destiny. I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of quality time with her before she passed a few months ago. I interviewed her during her last weeks. One of the questions I asked was: What do you regret most about not doing or accomplishing in this incarnation? She answered, "That I couldn't let love in and couldn't give it to those that I felt the deepest for because I was afraid it would make me too vulnerable and I would get hurt because I was hurt as a child." Those words stuck with me. As a Hollywood therapist, it made me think of my clients that have divulged some of the same feelings but in different ways. What does this say about our society? In truth, love is all the...

I believe every person and organization has a unique destiny, vision and purpose. We are all here because our presence on the planet is essential at this extraordinary time in history.

I believe that opening to a vision creates a synergy that is powerful and dynamic. There is a vibrant mission that is calling us all to higher ground and to more deeply loving and profound experiences.

I believe that each person and organization has a unique capacity to be of service to the community and world at large. Our only job is to uncover our core power, gifts and talents and activate a willingness to serve in expansive ways.

I believe there are no obstacles to our greatness. There has never been an event that defines our future. We have never experience anything that can stop us from soaring into a greater yet to be. The only limitations are created in our thinking. There are exciting experiences awaiting us, the moment we look at life through the lens of infinite possibilit...

Here's what I know for sure: finding true love is possible for any one at any age if you're willing to prepare your self, on all levels, to become a magnet for love.

This wonderful Universe of ours is set up to deliver the people and things we draw to us that our consistent with our personal belief system. If you don't believe you will ever find the ONE, then, guess what? You get to be right... you probably won't.

If, however, you learn to believe that the ONE is not only out there but is ALSO LOOKING FOR YOU, then true love can be yours.

The basic Law of Attraction states that you will attract to you those things that match your state of belief.

Believing that your soul mate is out there is critical to the preparation of manifestation.

Don't be afraid to try.
There are schools across the country teaching that "this" is the way business gets done; and we read books and web blogs with all kinds of messages saying "this" is how business is done. You are going to find conflicting ideas, thoughts, and theories and hear what has worked for others, but you won't know what is going to work for you until you try it.

If it were as easy as what the books say or what we are taught, then everybody would be doing the same thing and nobody would stand out. You really have to stand out and sometimes that means taking a chance on something, and accepting that you are going to fail. The people that I have seen who are successful are the ones that expect to fail. They know that they will get up after each failure and they will learn from it.

The onl...

Surprise!!! Let's pretend that you just walked into a surprise party - for you. Look around. Who is in the room? Most likely all of the people who are closest to you. Your immediate family. Maybe your parents. A few of your neighbors. A couple of co-workers? Some friends from previous jobs or neighborhoods? Your boss? Maybe people from when you were growing up or people you went to school with? A microcosm of your life is in that room.

Now pretend I walked in behind you, asked everyone to be quiet and posed this question: "WHAT SHOULD _________ (insert your name) BE DOING THAT HE / SHE IS NOT ALREADY DOING?"

They would all have an answer, and a lot of the answers would be the same. Some may be really heavy. Some may be funny. Some may be superficial.

• The heavy ones may be about what they believe is the purpose of your life.
• The funny ones may be about some passion of yours that you can never stop talking about.

A More Gracious World

I have been privileged to volunteer all over the world—in Cambodia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala. With these experiences, I've learned from so many different people and cultures. I find I am the learner and the receiver, allowing me to be a more sensitive, caring and compassionate person.

I can't forget my very first international volunteer trip. A group of us travelled to Managua, Nicaragua to build a school . At that time, 90% of students in the community could not afford school. The annual tuition was $1...

We jumped right into the project with the villagers and finished most, but not all, of the school. Our hammers broke, and there was no "hardware store" around the corner. You'd need to drive two hours. And no one in the communty had a car.

Our first instincts as Americans were to brainstorm every possible way to complete the school. Some spent time fretting we hadn't finished what we came here to do. Finally, I sat down t...

There are many ways of getting love in your life. Being likeable and lovable, dependable and constant, as well as considerate and generous are the obvious ways people attract love.

But there's another thing to do that's even more satisfying and rewarding, and that's giving love. Giving love to all living things, including the earth, is the key to getting love.

What a challenge, especially when you first start the practice! Be mindful of your attitudes and actions. It gets easier with time and practice.

There will be times you'll think it's not fair to be doing all the giving, but practice will overcome that reaction, too. It's like an addiction: the more you give the more you want to give, and the more you get in return. Mother Theresa is the common example of this practice. Can you do it?

As Nike says, "Just Do It". Just decide to give love. You'll get more love in your life that way. Whether you are loving peo...

Give With No Expectations

Giving without the expectation of getting anything in return can lead to amazing personal fulfillment and rich rewards. If we are willing to give away what we have both from an intellectual perspective and an emotional perspective, we are often rewarded in so many ways.

Let me begin by talking about the business side. If I am abundant and willing to share what I know (ideas, processes, procedures, etc.) even with my closest competitor, I win. I win in knowing I have assisted others. I win in knowing that I am helping my industry grow and prosper. I win because I can then encourage the business owners I have shared with to share with others.

On the personal side, we have all learned many lessons through missteps we have made in our life's journey. We have the opportunity to share and teach our family, friends and co-workers our painful lessons in an attempt to mitigate their pain from future missteps. If we share our story through honesty, ...

"Be Here Now". I first came across these words in a book about survival. The book's author noticed that people who were able to put aside their problems in the past and their fears for the future, were able to be completely in the moment. It was this ability to "Be Here Now" that allowed them to survive the most un-survivable of conditions.

A few days after reading this, I had one of those "aha" moments. It struck me that the phrase, "Be Here Now" was not only important for survival situations, but it was also useful for everyday life - especially mine. You see, for most of my blessed life, I have failed to enjoy most of my good fortune. I never lived for the moment and instead just tried to "get through" every day.

I could spend weeks or months anticipating some special event, and when the actual event occurred, I would anxiously count the seconds until it was over. Crazy, right? How could anyone both anticipate and dread the same event? It made no sense at all.

I...

I often wonder what the world would be like, if we all did what we felt calling to us - no matter how "ridiculous" or "impractical". Imagine how much less depression, anger, and hopelessness there might be - in your life, and the world around you. ~ Dr. Susan Biali

From Doctor to Dancer: Never Give Up On Your Dream

I grabbed my wet towel, and wiped away the sweat that stung my eyes. Outside, a car drove slowly past, kicking up a cloud of desert dust. The driver peered into the little laundry room, curious about the loud Spanish music that poured out through the small grimy window.

That September, the hottest month of the year in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, I had lost my dance studio, had no legal papers, and didn't have a single gig. All I had was the unimaginable heat of that tiny room, where I danced for hours as the machines pumped hot fumes into the suffocating space. I simply refused to give up. It's incredible to me now, how tenaciously I hung on to my vision of performing flamenco in my beloved adopted country, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Things really do get darkest before the dawn. Just before the tide changes, it'll seem like your dream will never come true. But if you have that burning belief in your heart, d...

Many blessings in life are sadly taken for granted. You will never understand how precious life is until you face a life-threatening disease. I discovered this after being diagnosed with breast cancer six days after giving birth to my first child. I truly believe God sent me my son to spare my life because He had a great plan in store for me.

I learned that we experience trials and tribulations to learn life lessons. We can either sulk in our misery or grow from the experiences and help others. Had I not struggled through a devastating disease, I would not have the opportunity to give back to my community and help other women.

We can not foresee what life throws at us. Rather, we can do our best to be prepared and ready to adapt to change. Embrace the times that seem to be negative and turn them into positive experiences. Through tough times comes good times, as rainbows shine after thunder storms.

My favorite movie quote is from the movie, Forrest Gump,...

There is a lot of criticism in the world, but we are our own worst critics. It's easy following the negative path and going down the harmful road. But it's even easier choosing positive choices.

My greatest value to the world is leading other peers that have been in my situation or worse and letting them know that "this is our story, this is what we've been through, but we can contribute so much more." We let others put us down so much, but we can make choices to prove them wrong.

Life is what you make it. Yes, we struggle, go through the heat. But that's just to make us a better person. The struggles we go through prepare us for the future that lies ahead.

Let go and receive. Receive and honor all of the gifts and blessings that God has brought your way. Recognize the blessings and let go of the past. Live for another day. I know that you've been through a lot, and I see that. But there are better ways to deal with your past than to keep on digesting it. Don't c...

Life is being talked about in many avenues and by many amazing people. There is so much talk about this in an effort to enlighten the importance of each human being. Humans are the most beautiful creatures there are on this planet with the will and intelligence to make this world all that it has always been meant to be.

The human spirit is unstoppable when it is on the path intended for that soul. We have always been meant to help each other, serve each other, be a part of each other, gather together, and live fully together. It is not about getting more than another but instead living the life meant for each. In fact no one can live another person's life. It will not be fulfilling to copy another or doing anything that does not resonate inside.

Shine Your Light.

I am seeing an alarming trend of people walking through their life anesthetized. Numb. They whittle away their limited hours and days watching others live instead of consciously living their own life.

They conveniently view others through the lens of a television screen, computer screen, or even a cell phone. With the push of a button, they fall into a trance of being a voyeur in the life of another and justify this as living.

I want to shake them, "Wake up! Do you know how many people are waiting for YOU to fully show up in your life? You precious human being, with your unique gifts, talents and experiences, were put here to bring light to others..."

This is our responsibility for the privilege of life: continuously find ways to make our light bigger and bolder in order to make a positive impact in this world.

No less than the sun shines above to light our days and the moon and stars shine to light our night, you are being...

If you can feel one single spark of magnificence in yourself or another, nothing stands in the way of your fanning that flame. Nothing stands in the way of creating a new and brighter flame of magnificence, that then begins to have a life of its own.

You see, it is a given.

How do I know that? Here you are reading an inspirational piece. You wouldn't be doing that unless you were determined to learn and grow. You would have no interest in such a thing unless you were already conscious enough to appreciate the beauty of being inspired and determined to take steps to improve your life. These are all already magnificent qualities. They show wisdom and spirit, still further qualities of magnificence.

In my experience, I have seen again and again that purposely fanning those flames creates a series of further awakenings to the magnificence that is already inside. As you tentatively begin to breathe life into this fire, you first find that at least in some ways, you ar...
