If today were my last day on Earth and I could share 500 words of brilliance with the world, here are the important things I'd want to pass along to others...

Looking over my life, I have spent a lot of time. Quite often, good things seemed to come to me. Just in the nick of time, I was able to take advantage of them. When I was about to finish college, the job market was bad so I applied to one graduate school program and I was accepted. As graduate school came to an end, I didn't have a job. The business school at my alma mater had an opening for a finance instructor. A friend recommended me, so I applied for the job and was quickly hired.

People around me seemed quite impressed with my life. By the age of 24, I had two degrees and I was a college professor. I didn't think much of my accomplishments but I knew they were generally good. Having a life that others deemed good was good enough for me, until I realized what I wanted to do with my life: teach.

At first, I thought it was teaching finance. But, it didn't take long for me to realize that I was not passionate about money.

During my first semester of...

My life has brought me many blessings including the gifts of being a mom, a business owner, partner, friend and active member of my communities. Being a successful, female serial entrepreneur has allowed me a unique opportunity to make an impact on the lives of many and in a variety of ways. I consider this one of my greatest honors and treat it with great respect.

I do not take being a role model lightly. When asked what I have learned thus far, I share what I have learned but also what I am learning "along the way". I always try to stay "dialed-in", stretch myself to learn and grow, never staying complacent while always looking for new ways to do and serve more. The team I surround myself with also forces me further than sometimes even I can see. Every day I gain more clarity on those "life thoughts" that show themselves to me.

If today were my last day on Earth and I could share 500 words of brilliance with the world, here are the important things I'd want to pass along to others...

Don't play it safe.

Work tirelessly to figure out your purpose and what you were meant to do on this earth. If you have to test different jobs and experiences to find what you like, by all means do it. Apathy and fear of failure are your enemy, experimentation is your friend.

Finding your purpose takes courage and a willingness to stumble. You will likely open some wrong doors before you open the right door. Don't expect the path to be linear and predictable -- be okay with the journey having its ups and downs.

If and when others try to talk you into taking some coveted path, remember that you are the one who will reflect back on your life one day. In that reflection, you will likely ask yourself some variant of this question: "Did I fear regret more than failure?"

Most of all - don't settle. Settling is about protecting yourself from risk. Settling means ignoring your inner GPS, stifling your true wishes, and talking yourself out of your dreams. And cont...

When we decide to open our eyes and be fully awake, we realize that much of the suffering is a self-created illusion. If we can trick ourselves into being the victim of our own misery, then surely we can just as easily volunteer for self-determined joy. ~Lisa Cypers Kamen

Here are a few of the best lessons I can happily share:

1. Life is tough:

Agreed, life is filled with trials and tribulations. To say one is happy all the time is a lie. To know happiness is available at any time is a truth. Happiness will not wait for us. Happiness will not invite us to the party. We must invite ourselves to say, "yes", diving deeply and happily into life...all of it...the ups, downs, twists and turns of our miraculous journey.

Happiness exists in tandem with adversity. Happiness waits in all the nooks and crannies to be embraced and celebrated ...ready at any moment. True and lasting joy emanates from thoughts, feelings, perceptions, actions and choices supported by positive self-esteem that oozes worthiness.

2. Nobody can tell us what makes us happy:

Society often dictates what we falsely believe creates happiness. Financial success, material wealth, finding the right partner and being part of the right group/club are some examples ...

Greed is good. Embrace it. Love it. Live it. In fact, greed may be the one thing that can save us. Don't believe me? Greed was the foundation for this country. The brave souls who risked their life to settle in a new country did so out of self interest. Our forefathers recognized the importance of self-interest in the Declaration of Independence where they emphasized our unalienable right to pursue happiness.

Greed is good not just for your own life but for others as well. By elevating your life, you can radically elevate your family's life, your community, and yes, even the world. Mother Teresa was greedy - she had an unquenchable thirst for serving the poorest of the poor. Missionaries are greedy in their quest to spread their religious beliefs. You just need to get greedy. You need to focus so intently on what it is you want that your desire seeps out of your pores.

But not all greed is created equal. The greed that nearly brought the world economy to a screeching hal...

Six years ago, my life changed forever, when my 43-year-old husband was diagnosed with cancer. Two years to the day later, cancer claimed him. For a while, cancer was the last thing I wanted to think about. But God kept calling me to tell our story. Finally, with a huge leap of faith, I turned my life upside down for the second time in a decade, and dedicated my life to helping people survive cancer, grief, and loneliness.

People often ask me how I do what I do—the basics are simple:

From childhood, I was taught never to say, "I cannot." To this day, I excel at whatever I'm doing, especially if someone tells me that I can't do it.

Be true to your core beliefs. Go where God leads you, even if you feel like asking "who me?" God will bring the people into your life that you need, when you need them. In short, He will take care of the details.

Aristotle said, "Where your talents and the needs of the world cross, lies your calling."

All moments matter.

Perhaps you believe that there are two types of moments: Ordinary moments and extraordinary moments; moments that are to be treasured and moments that might as well be pitched in the trash.

But all of our "ordinary moments" are moments that we must learn to treasure. Why? Because these "ordinary moments" moments are like seeds from which the exotic flowers of extraordinary moments blossom. If we are expert gardeners, we will look at the humble seed and know that a blossom of remarkable beauty is waiting to be born from it. We know that if we take care of it, feed it nurture it, and are patient with it, then ultimately its breathtaking beauty will ultimately be revealed to us.

If we take care of the ordinary moment that is, just as we would care for the humble seed, then will see that miracles lie within it, waiting to be born. If we care for the moment with wisdom, with understanding, and with love -- we will see it blossom...

Everybody needs some time to shine, time to be recognized, special, admired. It's not selfish: it's human.

Early one Saturday I saw in the local paper that a workshop for blues musicians was scheduled for that very morning. I showed the notice to my husband, who intends to be the world's next great blues harmonica player. "I'd like to go, "he said, "but I promised I would paint your office." I assured him that the office could wait and sent him off with my blessing.

He thought I was being selfless and wonderful, but I really wasn't. You see, I'd had a lot of shine time that week---a couple of career successes, lunch out with five favorite friends, and a massage that had accounted for one, entire, luxurious hour. I was full. When you're basking in the sun, it's natural to want those you love to join you there. But if you're not getting enough of your own shine time, it's easy to be needy, whiny, and pitiful.

It can get worse than that: the shine-...

1. Write down your goals and look at them every day.

Follow these 4 steps: Step 1: Write down goals Step 2: Look at goals Step 3: Take action Step 4: Repeat

2. Have a support system in place for when you feel down or depressed.

You'll always have "those days" so a good coping strategy is mandatory. And no matter how miserable you may feel, remember to repeat the mantra "this will pass" over and over again in your mind.

3. Your unconscious mind is running the show so learn how to communicate with it.

Instead of struggling to use your willpower to overcome your challenges, reprogram yourself with the proper tools (coaching, hypnosis, EFT, etc.) and watch your life get a thousand times easier (and much more fun).

4. Make a list of your accomplishments and look them over at least once a week.

Our brains tend to focus on negativity so it's easy to forget how awesome we are. Be grateful for everything you've done, everything you have and ev...

My life changed for the better when my oldest son Shep asked me, "Mom, what do you think the movie of the decade is?" An innocent enough question, one would think, for late December 2009. However, I kept hearing the word "decade." DECADE! It was screaming at me. All I could think was "We are at the end of another decade." The first decade of the new millennium gone! And what did I have to show for the last 10 years?

As the new year started, I shouted these questions to all who listened:
• "What is the reward for the life well-lived?"
• "What am I going to get in return for living the uncommon life?"
• "What do I get for being good?"
• "Somebody please tell me what is my reward?"

As that week wore on, I realized that I was asking the wrong question. Why? Maybe it's because I was in the middle of reading Tony Dungy's Uncommon and listening to Carolyn Myss' In...

This important subject of money and financial success is not the "root of all evil" as many have quoted—nor is it the path to happiness. So when you are able to successfully control something like the subject of money that affects most of you all day, every day, you will have accomplished something rather significant—for not only is it certain that your financial success must improve, but the evidence of that success will then prepare you for deliberate improvement in every aspect of your life experience.

(Excerpt from Debbi's anthology "Manifest Success: The Ultimate Guide to Creating the Life of Your Dreams"

"Starboard side!" I heard over the roar of the boat motor as I lay, belly down, on the bow of the speeding boat. As I reached my open palm into the warm gulf water, a jolt of energy rushed up my arm. There it was again, the smooth, cool skin of a dolphin. One after another, as if they were waiting in queue, dolphins surfed close enough to receive a loving stroke on their back, a human touch - my touch.

The day had been spent with our private dive master, diving and frolicking with a variety of underwater friends. Most notable was the nursery of baby seals, under the watchful eyes of their mothers, on a tiny island off the Mexican coast. The resemblance of these fun-loving creatures to our family pets was remarkable. As the babies would gently bite and shake our flippers, the adults would glide by our masks, maki...

It all starts Here for Maximum Achievement

"The greatest achievement was, at first, and for a time, but a dream." That dream then grew into a dominating thought or definite desire. What is your definite desire? That one thing that you want, that dominates your thoughts. You see, if you don't have one, you need to find one. In order for us to live a full and abundant life we must live with a purpose. A goal that is all consuming, that wakes us up in the morning and puts us to bed at night. If you are still in need of an alarm clock to rise on time every morning then you're probably not working toward a definite desire. Strong desire drives us relentlessly until we have accomplished our goal. It doesn't matter where or how you start. Desire with organized effort and faith is the equalizer. It is one of the most important things, that we all have in common.

Life should be fun! Every aspect of it is a thrill beyond anything we can describe or imagine. We have all heard the saying that "we are spiritual beings having a human experience." Think about that. Most of us live our lives as if we must find some higher consciousness or grand purpose for why we are here when in reality "we are" the purpose. Our human-ness is our purpose. We are already divine beings and all the things we think we are not and must drive ourselves to become are already ours.

We came "down" to be human not the other way around. There is no "up" in human experience because everything about our spiritual nature is already up. As humans we need only to remember our spiritual nature, which for most of us, is buried in an illusion of three dimensional life. We literally come to Earth as "divine" beings and we are conditioned to be human and in that conditioning we lose the awareness of our greatness - the greatness of gods.

We are on vacation. Vacations are ...

My highest teaching is this: do everything you can to get beyond fear in your life and work. By doing that, you will find greater success than you can imagine.

Fear holds us back like nothing else. But it's so tough to root out because it's pervasive in our lives—it's in our relationships, our self-image, and, especially, in our work. The work-related fears can be the worst: fear of not making enough money, not being successful, not meeting the expectations of others (usually our boss), or fear of being judged harshly by those around us.

Any one of these fears can stop us. Why? Because they cut us off from our inner guidance and our intuition, and they lead to what I call "disconnected action"—action taken without the support of our deepest talents. That leads to poor decisions, less effective results, and often to mistakes—sometimes serious ones.

So how do we get beyond fear?

My counsel is, do not trust the impulse to act when you feel dr...

The awareness that has shifted my life the most is my ability to feel present in what I am doing in each moment. I have had a lot of experience, like all of us, yet knowing that I am here right now, this second is the key to my finding joy and a sense of peace. It is not always the easiest road and I remind myself daily that being present is a state of fluidity and motion...there is no stasis so I remember that a state of peace is always alive inside of me. I breathe and connect to my body in a way that enables me to find "me" at a deep level.

It used to be that I was in a constant state of worry. I lived fearing I would miss something or get my life wrong. What I love about being in my late forties, being single and being aware is that I no longer live thinking about what has happened in the past or worrying about what may or may not happen in the future. I savor being alive in this moment. I have even learned to embrace my challenges as my gifts and guides. Life is...

Love more, think less. The only law is love. Do not ask for love; give it. Love is strengthened when we love those who are difficult to love. Perfection is not in the future; it is now.
