Helping Others

Inspired Quote of the Day

Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. ~ The Apostle Paul

For anyone to be inspired, all that it takes is a little shove in the right direction. In this day and age there are many problems... especially with the economy. Millions of people are losing jobs, losing homes, and losing hope. We need to help them out and try to make it better in the future. You may be thinking that your just one person and that you can't make a difference but that's the thing, you haven't even started and already doubting your ability. What you need to be thinking is: whom you can help, what you can do to help them, and how can you make a difference? If each of us turned to our neighbor and shared our lives, hearts and resources it wouldn't seem such a daunting task. There is a point that people have to do more than think the good thought... it is time to act on it!

From all that I've learned in my thirteen years of existence is: that helping others pays off for you and the one that you helped. What more could anyone ask for or want? Seeing a smile on some...

Energize Your Imagination

If today were my last day on Earth and I could share 500 words of brilliance with the world, here are the important things I'd want to pass along to others...

Energize your imagination to get more of what you want - Be as specific as you can with how it feels, tastes, sounds, smells, to live your dream now. Write your dream down in words that makes you feel good when you read it and read it daily.

Make Your Dream a priority by setting up systems of accountability to get what you want - Set up a master mind group, hire a coach, dedicate time everyday to focus on your dream daily, offer to help people who have achieved your dream.

Set specific parameters for your dream so you become a filter for only things that you want - Get very clear exactly what you want so when distractions come along that say "I'm more important than your dream," you can say no thanks. You are not my focus right now. My dream is this. You're not a match. Goodbye!"

Create anchors in your subconscious that alerts you when you are getting exactly what you want. (mind maps, mind movies, your future success stories) - If you get really clear about what y...

Trust your Intuition

Inspired Quote of the Day

For many years as a psychiatrist and intuitive I felt exiled in two different worlds. Both parts of myself are equally dear to me. I have struggled to heal the split between these two worlds. ~Dr. Judith Orloff

As a physician and intuitive, I combine spiritual awareness and intuition with mainstream medicine, a mix still considered heresy by many statistics-equals-reality oriented physicians. What I do isn't my job. It's my life's passion. With patients and in my workshops, I listen with my intellect and my intuition, a potent inner wisdom that goes beyond the literal, the rational. I believe intuition comes from a limitless spiritual source that we can all contact. I experience it as a flash of insight, a gut feeling, a hunch, a dream. By blending intuition and spirituality, with orthodox medical knowledge I can offer my patients the best of both worlds.

Now, in my life, listening to intuition is holy to me, but learning to trust it has been a long journey. I grew up in Beverly Hills the only daughter of two-physician parents with twenty-five physicians in my family. From age nine, I had dreams and intuitions that would come true. I could predict illness, earthquakes, even the suic...

If today were my last day on Earth and I could share 500 words of brilliance with the world, here are the important things I'd want to pass along to others...

The well-known actor Jack Lemmon once told me, when I asked him for his recipe for success, that "The degree of success you have in this world is directly proportionate to the risks you're prepared to take."

I'd always remembered that no risks, no significant success. When I left Hollywood a few years later, because I didn't want to raise my then infant daughter Caiti, in Los Angeles, my plans were to try and get into law school. I know at age 50 that this was going to be a huge challenge, first because of my age and second because I'd forgotten how to study.

When I applied to local law schools, here in North Carolina, I was denied admittance because they said that my under graduate grade point average was not high enough. I tried to argue that those grades were 40 years old, and that I had gained substantial knowledge since then, working at places like the White House, owning my own ad agency and becoming a successful writer and producer in LA.

I als...

I am glad to be asked this question as I am only two years away from my 50th birthday, but more importantly because I had a chance to actually think about this on my 38th birthday as I sat in a doctor's office as he proceeded to wish me a happy birthday and then tell me that I had cancer. Not the birthday present I was hoping for that year.

As I faced my mortality and the grueling surgery that removed half of my left lung, part of my right, my Thymus, the lining around my heart, my left vocal cord nerve and disconnected half of my diaphragm. I did think about what words of wisdom I would want to leave to my then, 14 year old daughter and my family and friends. The first thought that came to my mind was a lyric from a song that rang so true... "I hope you dance!!"

Live like there is no tomorrow and if you could not fail, what you would do? The saddest experience is to visit a nursing home and hear about all the things many of them wished they had the courage to have...

Today's Brilliance: Life Lessons from Parenting

If you're interested in learning some incredible life lessons, become a parent! Being a parent is filled with daily chances to learn some of life's most important lessons.

Just Go For It

The first thing I learned was that I was never going to feel prepared to have a child. If I wanted children, I would simply have to take a leap of faith that it would all work out somehow. I really had no idea what having a baby encompassed ... the never-ending work, the inconsolable crying, being sleep deprived ... and falling so deeply in love that I would do whatever it took for that baby.

For decisions of the heart, it is better not to analyze the situation too carefully before just going for it!

Behave the Way You Want Others to Behave

When I realized how carefully my children were watching my every move and often imitating me, I was motivated to become the best role model I could be. I learned that by...
